In an article by Training Industry, they cite studies which suggest as much as 90 percent of information after a training is forgotten within 30 days, and 70 percent of that loss happens within one day. What?! Really? All that hard work creating beautiful videos and perfect modules, the planning and designing almost obliterated after the first 30 days?! By this bleak statistic, you have as much chance of your learners remembering the snacks that were served as they do the key points of the training.

Three days in instructor-led training or a few hours of web-based training can be awesome. It’s how you teach new concepts and show real-life scenarios in action. When done well, training is inspirational, and the learner is excited to take what they’ve learned back to work and start changing their behavior.

But even with the best intentions, our learners get busy and start to forget most of what they have learned before they can implement their new skills and create new habits. Taking the next steps to reinforce the learning is critical to taking the training to infinity and beyond.

After completing training, the learners have good intentions to implement what they have learned. After they find 50 emails in their inbox and back-to-back meetings, even a person with the right intentions gets distracted. Here are a few tips on reinforcement:
